Shawn Robertson

Shawn Robertson is a photographer and filmmaker based in Toronto. He was introduced to the Surviving Memory in Postwar El Salvador project while working as a cinematographer with filmmaker Juan Bello on Las masacres de Chalatenango [The Chalatenango Massacres] in 2018. He now collaborates directly with the Surviving Memory project by photographing the team’s efforts in Chalatenango and capturing video testimonials of survivors’ stories from the Civil War. His skills as an adventure documentarian are well suited for rediscovering the landscapes and memories in the jungles and hills of El Salvador where he hikes with camera gear to record testimonials with survivors in the very place where the atrocities happened four decades ago.
